 I was born and raised in Frackville, Pennsylvania and graduated from North Schuylkill Jr. Sr. High School in 1993.  I am lucky to have my Frackville native parents and two brothers who all still live in Frackville. 

I had graduated from mortuary school in 1996 and pursued my career from a childhood dream and continue to have that same passion from my early days of starting.

I have been involved with Funeral Homes and Funeral Services since 1991.  Working for various Funeral Homes from Frackville, Ashland, Shenandoah, Mahanoy City as well as Bethlehem, Reading and Pottstown which allowed learn and understand the dedication it takes to help families in their time of need.

My Funeral Home was built with hard work and dedication to be the best possible help to families and not be a financial burden to them.

The Mark J Hummel Funeral Home is the site of the former Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home which started back in 1991 by Albert Gricoski and his wife Denise Gricoski. Upon their retirement in August of 2024 Mark Hummel had moved his one Reading, PA location to the Broad Mountain Ave. building.  This still allows him to serve Reading families through the Cramp Hummel Funeral Home in Reading, and the Frackville families through the Mark J Hummel Funeral Home of Frackville.

HISTORY OF HOW IT WAS MADE

The funeral home began construction from two row homes that had been merged together starting in the winter of 1989.  46 and 48 N Broad Mountain Ave., and later adding 50 and 52 to complete the small attached handicapped parking lot.  Late 2025 we purchased 66 N Broad Mountain Ave., and made a large 40 space parking lot for a worry free parking experience.
