John S. Lebengood, 88, of Cumru Township, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026. He was the devoted husband of the late Shirley (Ziegler) Lebengood, who passed away in 2023. Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, John was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Reed) Lebengood. John proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He loved sharing stories and had an incredible memory, recalling moments from his childhood and throughout his life with remarkable detail. His stories and conversations were a special gift to those who knew him and will be fondly remembered by family and friends. He is lovingly survived by his two daughters, Tiffany Thompson of Charleston, South Carolina, and Robin Zappacosta of Apollo Beach, Florida. He was a proud grandfather to Harper Thompson, Emma Thompson, Ashley Smith, and Matthew Zappacosta, and a cherished great-grandfather to Capri Smith, Bradley Smith, Jack Smith, and Nolan Zappacosta. His family meant everything to him, and he took great joy in watching it grow through the generations. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Cramp Hummel Funeral Home, 934 Centre Ave., Reading, PA. 19601.
